Founder | Executive Director

My grandparents settled in Compton in the 1950's.  I was raised and educated in the city and witnessed the devastating impact that drugs and gangs had on not only my neighborhood, but the city as a whole.  For many years, I accepted that this was just how Compton was but as I grew older and after experiencing life in other cities, I realized that this narrative can be changed, by residents

In 2019, concerned with our infrastructure, I found ways to become involved and educate myself on local politics.  I started to research, attend council meetings and talk to other residents. Not long after, I realized that the problems our city faces are decades old.  New administrations have inherited issues from past administrations and the cycle has continued. It's time to break the cycle.

So how do we change the narrative in Compton? I believe it starts with us and through Compton Advocates, we will continue to work to engage and empower community members. We will work toward building successful, productive working relationships with our elected officials and residents.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
